SC&RA Files Comments on FMCSA’s Proposed Changes to SMS

-The SC&RA Transportation Governing Group voted last month to support the FMCSA proposals and file comments in the affirmative by the May 16 deadline. The comments were filed timely and can be found online here Additional analysis on the SMS proposals is also available to members-only here. Earlier this year, FMCSA announced proposed changes to its Safety Measurement System (SMS) to reduce and prevent crashes. There has been significant conversation among SC&RA members that the very short period between the release of proposals and the federal government’s comment deadline meant many carriers have not yet taken the opportunity to see how their CSA scores may be affected. Motor carriers can visit the CSA Prioritization Preview website, log in, and preview how their own data would appear under the proposal. For more information, contact Chris Smith.
